Stuart grew up in Sydney and graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Sydney University in 1984. After working in Sydney, he moved to Inverell in 1985 to take over from the retiring Dr. John Northcott.

Stuart stays current with dental advancements by attending seminars and conferences globally. He has completed mini-residencies in Orthodontics, Dento-Facial Orthopaedics, Biobloc Orthotropics, and Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders. He is also accredited in Invisalign and has advanced training in facial growth guidance appliances.

Stuart is a member of the Australian Dental Association, International Association for Orthodontics, American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, and Australasian Academy of Sleep Medicine as well as being a registered Orthotropic practitioner. In 2022 he was honoured to become a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

Stuart’s orthodontic philosophy focuses on early correction of bad habits in children to prevent extensive treatments later. For adults, his aims are to improve smiles, reduce pain, headaches and excessive wear, as well as improving functional breathing problems including Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea treatments.

In the community, Stuart has been involved in various organisations, including School P & C's, the Inverell Sports Council and the Inverell Cricket Association. His interests include sports, bush-walking, photography, and travelling.

Watkins Dental is a family-oriented practice providing comprehensive dental care and referring to specialists when needed. Stuart's practice includes a significant focus on orthodontics and dento-facial orthopaedics, addressing underlying causes of crooked teeth and preventing orthodontic relapse.
